Sources & Calculation Conventions

GematriaRTM documents its conventions so that the same input can be reproduced by hand or compared with another calculator.

Conventions used here

AtBach: the site uses units, tens and the 100–900 group including final forms; after substitution, the resulting letter is valued with standard gematria. Thus ש→ן contributes 50.

Achas Beta: the site uses the triplet transformation documented by TorahCalc and GalEinai (א→ח→ס→א, etc.), with Tav fixed. Some calculators implement a different variant, so this convention is stated explicitly.

Standard values use final letters as their base form. Mispar Gadol uses final values 500–900. Mispar Siduri uses the 22-letter ordinal convention, with final forms equal to their base letter.

Milui and Ne’elam use the explicit default names: אלף, בית, גימל, דלת, הא, וו, זין, חית, טית, יוד, כף, למד, מם, נון, סמך, עין, פא, צדי, קוף, ריש, שן, תו. Alternate spellings exist and can produce different results.

Accuracy and variant policy

When a method has more than one documented convention, GematriaRTM states the active convention next to the result. This matters especially for ordinal final letters, Milui/Ne’elam, Ofanim, Mispar Mispari and Achas Beta.

Pointed Hebrew and Unicode

The engine normalizes Hebrew Unicode presentation forms and removes niqqud and cantillation before calculation. The same Hebrew letters therefore return the same value with or without pointing. Non-Hebrew characters do not add value.
